PwC to financial consulting or PE
Hi everyone,
I have just finished my first year at PwC - assurance financial services. I have a double major in accounting and finance. I took the PwC job to help me transition into an analyst job in PE, IB or consulting. I am currently in the last stages of an interview at a small PE fund that I am very excited about. I am also in the final stages for a small financial consulting firm. My question is, if I do not get the PE job, would taking the job at the small financial consulting firm be a step forward from PwC if my end goal is to work at a PE firm? The thing that makes me unsure about the small consulting firm is that they mainly deal with banks and credit unions, specializing in -- Asset liability management, estimation of Fair value-- (M&A, goodwill, deteriorated loans, troubled debt restructuring), valuation of illiquid financial instruments, and credit loss estimates.
I think the experience at the small consulting firm would get me on the right career track-- ie. away from audit, accounting, back office etc jobs
Let me know what you think
