Rankings of PE Firms in Canada

This is merely a discussion post, have at it in the comments. I don't care if you post a top 3, 5, 10, or 100, drop them down below.

Canadian rankings in general are pretty much a toss-up, so I feel that this forum deserves to have at least one post where we can try and find out (with enough of a sample), what are the most impressive PE firms.

Feel free include reasonings for rankings (pay, prestige, exit placements etc.)

Although it won't compare to the US at all, there's still a few reputable PE shops in Canada. Don't know much on them to rank them but just listing out the reputable shops that come to mind: Onex, ONCAP, Altas, Brookfield, Birch Hill, Torquest and Clairvest. Other names I've heard that are legit and good are: Imperial, Peloton and the new addition of Alphi (spawn off of Birch Hill). Obviously pensions have good PE arms too, namely OTPP and OMERS (not including CPP as OTPP and OMERS are more GP style vs co-invest being the main with CPP). Feel free to add on.
