Re-Interviewing with same PE Firm

Does anyone know if PE firms are often willing to do this? I interviewed with a fund that I really liked this past year (currently a second year analyst). All the feedback I got throughout the process was positive, but I was told it essentially came down to a coin toss and the other guy got it. I really liked this firm so definitely want to give it another shot if I can.

Are firms usually willing to take another look at the same candidate in the following recruiting cycle? I honestly haven't heard of this happening so wasn't sure if people either didn't talk about, didn't attempt it or if it was just a matter of firm policy. Thanks for any insight.

I wouldn't be so direct. Just network and be patient. Foster a personal and positive enough relationship, and I wouldn't be surprised if they reach out to you (general networking common sense).

This is really really bad advice.

Yea I appreciate brownbear commenting but that seems like a very weak and reactive approach. My question is not should I do this (I full well plan on reaching out to them again). My question is: is it common for a PE firm to take another look at the same analyst in the following recruiting cycle? Particularly one going into his third year.

People tend to think life is a race with other people. They don't realize that every moment they spend sprinting towards the finish line is a moment they lose permanently, and a moment closer to their death.

Give one of the people you interviewed a call - the worst they can say is no.

Yea I plan to do this in a few months. I only interviewed with the fund a couple months ago so it's probably a little too soon.

Bump - has this happened to anyone? Also, are they more likely to reengage if you mess up early rounds, model test, case study, or superday?
