Regional IB -> Newly formed Family Office

I'm currently working at as a 3rd year analyst at a small IB firm with hopes of transitioning into private equity. Previous experience in Big 4 tax and non target university.

I received an opportunity to join a newly formed single family office. The firm is very small (~$60m AUM) and will be focused on buyout transactions of 3-4 platforms followed by add-ons.  I would be the 4th employee and be very involved in all aspects of the deals and general business.  The firm was founded and funded by the CIO who has a long career in MM IB.

My current firm doesn't have a history of analysts/associates going into PE, but I would work on more deals at my IB firm versus the family office. Would this opportunity help me eventually transition into a  PE role?
