Return of public equity?

Saw this report online - seems like Private Equity and Public Equity returns are converging - what do you guys think of this? Would AUM and performance be returning to public?

Looking forward to what the more experienced guys on this site will say but I can agree that the number of PE funds has become concentrated and too many dollars are chasing the same few deals over and over again. These days every PE firm is essentially employing very similar investment mandates (very little differentiation)... I can see how this will drive down returns over the next couples of years but I am not sure if things on the public equity side will pick up.
