Roles in energy PE?

Can somebody provide some insight into how responsibilities and roles are split up in energy PE? I think that is seems like a cool space to move in to post-banking, but it is hard to determine who does what between the investment team, asset management teams, origination team (more for development), etc. Obviously the name of each team/role explains a lot, but based on what I've seen on LinkedIn there seems to be quite a bit of crossover and variability depending on the firm.

Can anyone provide some insight here in terms of responsibilities, lifestyle, career progression, exits and comp for each type of role?
