Sixth Street Info

Can anyone help me out with a breakdown of the differences in Sixth Street's strategies? Specifically, what exactly does the Strategic Capital strategy do, and how is it different than the Fundamental Strategies platform? From what I gathered, Strategic Capital makes investments in late-stage private companies, whereas Fundamental Strategies invests in public companies and distressed?

Asking for clarification because the last press release on their website when filtered for Strategic Capital news was an investment in February 2023, and before that was in 2021. Are some investments made out of multiple strategies, and are all these made out of the same ($4.4B) fund?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Sixth Street Partners seems to have a diverse investment strategy. They have a flexible capital vehicle which allows them to make a wide range of investments. This is both an advantage and a disadvantage.

From the information available, it seems like their main focuses have been Healthcare & Life Sciences (ConcertAI, Mammoth, Datavant, Caris) and TMT (Legends and Spurs + Spotify and Airbnb out of Sixth Street Growth). They list out the following as their verticals on the What We Do page: Business Services, Consumer and Internet, Energy, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Real Estate, Renewables, Retail, Software and Technology, Telecom and Media.

As for the Strategic Capital Group, it appears that they're divided into industries but the only industry I'm able to find a web page on is Healthcare & Life Sciences. The job posting seems contradictory as it suggests associates work across industries but that the teams are divided by industry.

As for your question about the differences between the Strategic Capital strategy and the Fundamental Strategies platform, I'm afraid I don't have enough information to provide a detailed answer. It's possible that the Strategic Capital strategy focuses on late-stage private companies while the Fundamental Strategies platform invests in public companies and distressed assets, but I can't confirm this based on the information I have.

As for your question about the investments made out of multiple strategies and whether they're all made out of the same fund, I'm afraid I don't have enough information to provide a detailed answer. It's possible that some investments are made out of multiple strategies and that they're all made out of the same fund, but I can't confirm this based on the information I have.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
