So what exactly happened...?
So I stumbled upon this MM PE firm I really wanted to intern at and the alum I reached out to seemed pretty receptive. The alum straight up asked if I wanted an internship and then requested my resume.
It's been a while, and I've heard no news regarding it. Am I just not qualified, are they just really busy, or what's up? I just shot off a follow-up email.
Sorry for the paranoia. Just trying to finalize something for the summer and I'm getting stressed out of my mind. Thanks for any advice.
Best, BankingWaffle
sorry to say...it could be any of the options...but delayed response is generally never positive...but i do wish you luck!
how long has it been?
Same with me man, delayed response is a bad sign. You could just try to send another email asking to meet up in person or something or call them
People are busy, he may have just forgotten about it because there's no immediate need for an intern. Simple ping is fine. Hi just wanted to check in on the status of the internship position, still very interested, happy to meet at earliest convenience, blah blah.
It's been a week and a half. Just shot a follow up email and no response. Sigh...back to hunting. I was really hoping for it too...
Why don't you try giving him a call?
how long has it been since the follow up email?
I'll probably give the alum a call today (Friday) or Monday. I sent the follow up email Thursday early afternoon and no reply.
I would give a call. Just remember to remain persistent, but not annoying. People are busy and could be on the road or something.
At this point your options are 1) do nothing and not get the internship 2) remain persistent and not get the internship 3) remain persistent and get the internship.
The only one I would rule out is #1. It could be true that you are not qualified but showing a strong interest goes a long way sometimes.
how long was before you sent the follow up email?
A week and a half and then I followed up.
hmm ok. yeah go for the call man. good luck.
and keep us updated! gl
Ugh....I followed up. They won't know whether or not they need an intern until later...
