Sophomore Secured 2026 PE Internship Abroad – How Do I Maximize This?

I’m a sophomore finance major at a non target (~3.68 GPA) and just locked in a Summer 2026 Private Equity internship at a mid-sized firm abroad. Super grateful, but I want to make sure I actually stand out once I get there and also keep building my profile for full-time PE/IB recruiting.

experience so far: • Finance/Investing: Senior Analyst in my school’s Student Managed Investment Fund. Financial advisory internship (freshman spring). Medical equity research/healthcare internship (freshman fall).

• Upcoming: Private Equity internship abroad (Summer 2026). • Other Work: 2 yrs Starbucks, 6 months on school’s marketing/events team, Content creation for fun

Entrepreneurship: Co-founded an AI consultancy/startup that’s already producing revenue (ironically, more than entry IB comp), but I still want to challenge myself and break into PE/IB.

Questions I got: 1. Between now and Summer 2026, what should I specifically master to hit the ground running in PE (modeling, CIM analysis, case studies, technical prep)? 2. What else would move the needle most for recruiting/full-time PE/IB after 2026 — additional internships, advanced technical prep, certifications, networking angles? 3. Best way to position entrepreneurship so it comes off as a strength (initiative/leadership) instead of “lack of commitment” to finance?

Appreciate any insights, i’m tryna to make sure this early break into PE turns into real long-term momentum
