Strategic Finance Exits - PE Background

Hi all,

Recently got let go from my dream PE gig in probation (I don’t have an IB background).

I’ve been struggling to find any work in IB/PE but I’ve been looking a strategic finance role. I don’t want to be to specific about the actual role, but does taking a strategic finance role consign me away from investing roles? What factor would enhance a move back to investing beyond an MBA?

If not so what are other  potential exits? I have a strategy background before PE so would love to hear some thoughts, cheers
