struck out MF PE AN1

I interviewed for a few MF PE analyst roles and got pretty far in the processes but did not get an offer. Now with on-cycle associate recruiting coming up in August/September, I'm wondering how I can get back into the process. I networked my way into the analyst processes but I know for associate it's all headhunters. Should I reach out to the people that interviewed me and mention I want to try again? reach out to HR?

What's the best way to play this? How do I make sure I get that HH inbound? Would they even consider me given I didn't make the cut for analyst?

I was in a similar boat as you (got rejected from MF PE analyst programs, landed at UMM as an analyst, moving to MF PE through on cycle). Go through the headhunters as they’re the gatekeepers for the associate process but doesn’t hurt to keep dialogues with anyone who was in your corner during the analyst process. Honestly didn’t really bring up that I had previously interviewed during on-cycle but I suspect the contacts who liked me from then pulled for me for the associate process. Comment if you want further color, it’s a unique situation but honestly if you were deep in interviews for MF PE analyst programs you’ll get it for associate for sure

did you go through on-cycle as soon as your PE analyst stint started? Would love to hear how you phrased that to HHs if you did
