Student looking to start out in brokerage then transition into PE

Im currently a student entering my junior year and interning at a brokerage shop this summer, looking to intern with a bigger brokerage shop next summer and hopefully turn that into a full time job. What I want to do is do brokerage for 4-5 years and obtain a masters degree during that time in real estate then get into private equity but I am just a little confused if doing something like this is possible? If anyone has any similar experiences and how they got there I would greatly appreciate it.
