SWF Exits

I received an offer from a top SWF in NYC to be in their direct investing group. Currently working as an associate for a respectable MM fund, but I want to work on mega deals and am leaning towards taking the opportunity. The SWF is also offering a better comp package.

My plan is to make this a long term move, but I have heard that no major fund with LP capital from this SWF would ever hire from there. Is there truth to this? Even though I plan to stay at the next role for 5+ years, I don’t want to hurt my exit opportunities.
