Thoughts on BlackRock
Anyone have good insights? Best teams, junior comp, strategy, etc?
Particularly curious about Private Credit as they've recently been expanding their exposure and raising more funds in the space.
Also, do you believe it's a good place to begin your career?
BlackRock private credit got its foothold from buying Tennenbaum Capital Partners who focused on private credit in hairy situations (distressed, litigation, acquisition, etc). They run traditional middle market direct lending, and opportunistic (i.e stressed/distressed) credit strategies which can range from 6-20% + targetted IRR.
With $25bn AUM they are a decently large player in private credit and total alternative credit is $142 AUM including CLOs. Similar in size to Blackstone Credit's $178bn.
Really useful info, thanks.
Advice on where to read up on this? I want to learn more.
Thanks.
You can start with the BlackRock Institutional portal's private credit page
Taken a good look.
Wondering if there’s a place to go where there are more insights than the site?
Do you think the CAIA might be useful for someone trying to break into opportunistic credit at a place like Blackrock?
