Thoughts on MM PE Firms? Specifically WCAS vs. THL vs. New Mountain?

Hi everyone! Wanted to get a general sense on the MM PE landscape. I am particularly interested in WCAS vs. THL vs. New Mountain (their reputation, culture, associate lifestyle and comp), but would love to hear thoughts on other big players in the MM space as well.

All well respected UMM firms. Think all a little sweaty but in line with other funds of that size as is comp. Think THL maybe better culture than the other two from what I’ve heard and anecdotally, probably slightly better b school placement since it’s an older name. Have heard nmc can be a tough place to work. I think but not positive that all offer direct promotions. Good outcomes out of all three so if fortunate to get to choose, would choose based on where you want to live and where you feel the best fit.

Good friend of mine worked there. His hours weren't great but I think the culture was pretty good, at least relative to banking. Know a bunch of firms that had an exodus of associates leave but only one associate has quit there in the past few years or something, which is actually kind of impressive given that their class sizes are on the larger side.
