Too late to join MF PE as an A2A IB Associate?
I started as an analyst in summer 2021 at a BB. Was previously in a coverage group for my analyst years and moved to M&A team (summer '23) for my associate years. In my coverage group, I just didn't get enough deal exposure or enough modelling experience, hence the move to M&A. I told myself if I were to move to PE, it'd have to be an MF, otherwise, would rather just stay in banking. Question is, am I too late at this point to recruit for a MF? Am I destined to just stay in banking forever?
not sure what the obsession with MF is but if you want to adhere to it despite the irrationality then yeah its too late
MF is good for associate stint but poor after. Promotions / carry pool is fked
