Traveling with the team
I work at a new fund, there are only 4 people (3 deal - MD, SA, A / 1 ops - MD) and a CEO who functionally execute on a deal. Is it weird that I as the A am not traveling with the team when going to MP's or on-site for live diligence?
Firm is about a year old, I have been here for 6 months.
No this isn't weird at all. Firms generally want to keep a lid on costs, you aren't perceived as the highest value-add, and occassionally sellside may even insist on keeping a cap on numbers
makes sense, we were much less structured earlier in the year when I first joined, but looking like we are planning to grow and add new juniors so makes sense they want to keep a lid on costs. very much appreciated for your response.
Agree with the other comment, even outside of costs it's a little odd to show up to these things with a giant posse and multiple juniors.
Totally get feeling left out but this is normal and not personal. I'd expect you start traveling once you have 2+ years of experience and can contribute a bit more to traveling engagements
