Updated info on Oaktree Internships?

I saw that Oaktree recently posted their Summer 2021 internship application on LinkedIn. I know in the past that Oaktree has been pretty strict about not giving FT offers to their SAs. Just wanted to make sure that this was still the case because I did a quick search and have seen that they took some analysts in recent years. This listing also specifies a 2022 expected graduation date so I'm just wondering why a junior would take this internship if it wouldn't convert to a FT offer. Where could you go FT after an internship at Oaktree?

I mean you have a point. I think most people who go into banking though are risk averse so it definitely makes me hesitant to go in if I know there's zero chance of an offer waiting for me at the end of summer. You're right though that this would be a great experience, and I'll probably apply anyways.

I always find it funny when people act like working at a place like Oaktree as an analyst is somehow a “risk” or will “limit” your career prospects. Acquiring a solid brand name, strong network, and demonstrable financial skills are really what the analyst experience is about. You start to limit yourself as you climb the totem pole though- a HY analyst at Oaktree could easily jump to a PE role, but the same cannot be said for a HY associate.

TLDR- I would be hard pressed to think of any banking role that would beat an analyst seat at the Oak. Even if you don’t like credit, you’ll gain a strong investment IQ and network that will be hard to replicate elsewhere. Plus Howard Marks is an industry icon.

There is 100% no chance of getting a return offer, but should be a good experience.

Most likely one of the credit ones. Do you know if they're going to ask for our preference during the superday? Also, do you know if there will be technicals at all?
