Vista Equity / How did Robert Smith avoid jail time?

Wow. This rich guy Robert Brockman apparently gave Robert Smith the initial capital to start Vista and were friends for decades. When both were accused of very serious crimes, Robert Smith cooperated in order to get his friend jailed and save himself from getting indicted? This is nuts! Surprised that no one in the finance world is really talking about it...I guess the philanthropy helped get him off.
