Vista Equity / How did Robert Smith avoid jail time?
Wow. This rich guy Robert Brockman apparently gave Robert Smith the initial capital to start Vista and were friends for decades. When both were accused of very serious crimes, Robert Smith cooperated in order to get his friend jailed and save himself from getting indicted? This is nuts! Surprised that no one in the finance world is really talking about it...I guess the philanthropy helped get him off.

Yep pretty amazing the guy made it till age 79 without getting caught
Fines a large amount.
Crafted an incredible public image for himself - too bad my man Wesley Snipes didn't do same smh
I just saw this little snippet in an article about Robert Brockman...apparently they have email records of him asking a money manager to attend a "money laundering conference" under an assumed identity. Hilarious. It's like he was asking to get caught.
Free Robert Brockman!
LOL. Vista is back today with a new IPO
And Vista marches on, completed $4.2bn IPO yesterday after buying the company for $1.5bn and then scoops up another company for $1.7bn. Pretty wild honestly, business as usual it seems
