VP of Talent Acquisition - much say in offer?
Does VP of Talent Acquisition (or similar positions) have much say in who gets an offer? Or is it just up to the deal team? Had an interview with VP of Talent Acquisition that felt a little off .. some weird questions digging deeper into why I was leaving current firm. Interviews with deal team have all gone great, and it's late-stage. Thoughts? (Ignore my title - junior PE position)
Varies firm by firm. Where did this interview fall in the batch? If it was your first/early and you passed onto additional rounds thereafter, I'd consider that a "passed" interview.
Weird to have an HR interview late in the process... these are usually intro screener interviews to make sure it's worth the investment team's time to talk to you
My guess is the deal team likes you but had questions about why you're leaving and it was then on HR to push on that topic, especially if they were asking specific stuff. I would consider any late-stage interview to be important
She was mainly asking logistical questions (notice period, if I needed a visa, if I had any RSUs / deferred comp, title expectations, etc.) but started off and also asked about my background, reason for leaving, and why I'm interested in the role .. does that change your view on the interview?
Weird, that's the stuff they would usually ask at a first interview
It's too firm dependent to make a specific call on this one. Sit tight for a couple days, follow up at a week but if they go a week without contacting you that is usually not good news
Is it a 'hot take' to say that these questions sound really normal? Maybe you're just overthinking this.
I said reason for leaving was relocation pressure and she asked if I knew that when I took the job and if my current firm knew I was interviewing right now (they don’t). Are those normal questions / am I just overthinking this?
