What should I do differently for Off-cycle ?
Incoming analyst at an EB in NY. Didn’t get any interviews for the on-cycle process and honestly a little perplexed. Graduated from a low target/high semi-target and I’d spoken to pretty much all the big HHs and thought the conversations went pretty well across the board. I was hoping to recruit for credit/special sits groups but got absolutely nothing over two days. Just want to try and figure out how to best position myself for the off-cycle process. Any advice would be appreciated
Bump, same here
Be more black and be more women
LOL you're not wrong
VP at a MF here. Haven’t really every commented but did not want to let the above comment regarding race/gender win this discussion over.
Please understand from our perspective, we receive candidates on a large tracker from the head hunters our firms use. They receive hundreds and possibly thousands of interest forms and it’s their job to narrow that down to a priority list of sub 100 names. You can imagine, the head hunters do not coffee chat every single person. So similar to any other screen, they cut people off using thresholds (filter by school, filter by GPA, filter by group, etc) based off the historical preference of their client (the funds). This is a take a cleaver to a surgery type of approach but the only way to do so with such tight timing. If you believe you are a strong candidate, make a case and demonstrate to the Hh’s that you are that guy/girl. And why you should be given a look. Once you’re through that door, the rest is in your court to back up the talk.
best of luck
