which HR services do PE firms use for background check

About to go through background check and want to know which are the HR software/service providers typically used by PE firms for this. Haven't told my current firm I'm leaving and wonder if those background check folks will still discreetly reach out to current employer against my will, even if I do not give them consent on the forms. I heard some HR backrgound check companies can be shady like that.

Did you fill out any employment/employment history-related fields on the forms? Was the report/summary you got the exact same that the firm would get, or might the firm get a more detailed version (e.g. yours just says everything clears/employment dates and title check out/no bankruptcy, but the employer can see your specific employment dates and title/your credit score, etc.)?

Sorry; realize I didn’t answer your question fully before. Looks like the report did NOT cover any employment related items (i.e. in the summary report I received they did not cover/mention any of my prior employment). I assume that’s because this would be covered during their reference call checks at your prior organization.

I believe the summary that was provided to me was the same as what the employer receives although I have no way of knowing. I believe that in certain states (e.g. CA) they might have to disclose the full report to you (what is provided to employers) upon request?
