Which PE Associate programs are two years and out?
Curious as to which associate tracks are strictly two years and out? Most interested in middle market but also curious about larger funds as well. Many thanks.

Vast majority of funds are 2 and out. Not a realistic ask...
If most of the funds are 2 yrs and out then why are so many ppl trying to get in?? If they would just stay there for 2 yrs and get kicked out?? And once they are out, where do they typically go??
Uhh because they are high paying jobs with a lot of prestige, which we all know ibankers care a lot about. Having two years of experience at an investment bank, PLUS two years of experience at a well-known PE firm looks great on the resume and can open a lot of doors in the future.
Here are the options after 2 years of PE:
1) Business school 2) Lateral to another PE firm as an experienced Associate or possible a 3rd yr Senior Associate 3) Move to operations and join a company as strategy / finance 4) At some firms, exceptional performers are asked to stay for a 3rd year with a path to direct promotion to Senior Associate or VP. Not all firms do this, a lot of the big firms are strict 2 and out.
This is harsh for someone who didn't know this before. I thought PE is the end game where you stay for the rest of ur life or get promoted from associates??
Is it possible or realistic to expect to be promoted to VP or above at MM/or UMM funds? And if not very realistic, then how those people made partners? How did they pull it off?
If it's that hard, I better just stay at my bank then.
