Who Should I Be Networking With to Make My Life Easier ?

As someone breaking into the PE/GE space, what are the most useful connections to have? In terms of deal origination, fundraising, and selling, who should I go out of my way to connect with? For example, should I know someone at every top BB and EB bank, or is that overkill? Should I work on networking with investment funds, so I can secure financing easiest? Or, should I try to make contacts at large firms along the verticals I am interested in that often pursue acquisitions? Or, all of the above? What's your guys ten cents?

Your question doesn’t really seem to be clear on if you’re (i) looking to get a PE / GE job from banking or (ii) currently in PE / GE and looking to expand your network.

If (i) then main priority (assuming you’re at a good bank, either top BB / EB) is to get on the main HH’s radar (e.g., CPI, Henkel, Amity, Ratio, etc.) and then if you want to network with mid-level people at the target firms then that’s a bonus

If (ii) the answer to your question would be all of the above as you want bankers for deal flow, lenders for financing support, and other investors for market color (+ possible deal flow)
