Why MM PE?

Trying to weigh different options as my first year in IB comes to an end. If anyone at a MM PE firm doesn't mind sharing what makes the MM unique outside of those below, would be greatly appreciated.

-Opportunity to hold management's hand more so than you would at a MF as the companies are less professional lacking corporate structure

-Focus on how to grow market share through organic (building out sales / marketing team) and inorganic means (roll-up acquisitions)

-More exposure / responsibility with portfolio companies at a junior level

-More variance in daily tasks, not stuck completing the same tasks for every deal and doing nothing else

I understand that these can vary firm to firm, but would love if anyone can expand / add to the list.

I would also add the people at MM PE.

MF PE tends to attract the most insane, type-A people with mental health deficiencies. Finance hardos throughout college and that decided to do on-cycle recruiting before they even started their IB gig - they were willing to sleeplessly sell 4 years of their life for the prestige. Have yet to meet a normal MF investor and would think working with them is a nightmare.

Not saying MM PE is perfect but it's a little more normal.

I would say MM PE because it gives you more visibility. I work with the managing partners every single day. I do t just have a single job set, I help with the portco, IR, and regular PE things. Going off the other comment, I would say MM people are way more normal too, albeit I’m the only non ivy at the firm (yes they never forget to remind me) they all are guys that you’d want to grab a beer with at the end of the day.
