Working in PE / VC in Europe – differences vs US (happy to answer questions)

Hi everyone,

I recently joined WSO as a mentor and thought it might be useful to open a thread on private equity and venture capital careers in Europe.

A lot of the discussion here focuses on the US market, but the European ecosystem has its own dynamics in terms of recruiting, deal flow, and career paths.

My background is in private equity, venture capital, and corporate strategy across industrial and technology sectors in Europe, working in lean deal teams on investment analysis, financial modeling, and operational strategy.

Happy to answer questions about topics such as:

• recruiting paths into PE / VC in Europe today
• differences between the European and US markets
• working in cross-border teams
• technical interview preparation (DCF, LBO, modeling)
• what the day-to-day work actually looks like

If anyone here is considering a career in PE / VC in Europe or preparing for interviews, feel free to post questions here.

Happy to help where useful.
