4-Months Since Being Laid Off - Thoughts?

Been laid off for 4-months now and onto month 5. Right now I'm not seeing much activity on the hiring on the investment side. I have about 7-years of experience so really looking for mid-senior level roles. Currently reside in Canada where the landscape is worse than US from a recessionary standpoint (still seeing investment roles in the US but visa issues make it tough).

Curious to hear some thoughts of someone with similar experience i.e. being laid off for quite a while before landing a role you really want? Do you think the investment / acquisition roles will start to come in Q4 2023 / Fall for the following year?

I'm also contemplating doing whatever I can get just to get a paycheck and not updating my resume / linkedin and then giving two weeks notice once I land something I like.

Sorry I misread your post or may be conflating it with another post I read here.. thought you had said you were considering roles in FP&A. That's obviously very different than working in RE lending.

The amount of compromise you're willing to live with all really depends on your personal situation and career. I have similar years of experience to you but am fortunate to have built a solid nest egg - if I got suddenly laid off I wouldn't hesitate to travel/surf/ski for 6 months while passively looking for an opportunity that really excites me. I have confidence in my resume. And if someone were to ask why the gap - there would be a good story there. It also kind of depends on why you got fired. Downsized or corporate forces obviously a lot easier to live with and speak to than underperformance or whatever.
