Another Comp Post

First I want to apologize for making another comp thread. I've searched through the search bar, looked at rhodes/CEL posts/ Comp listed in job listings, but I have no idea what the actual market would look like for an associate 3-4 years experience. It's all over the place. I've seen anywhere from$75k-$150k+ on base and who knows for bonus.

Can anyone give a good guidance on what a low, average and high comp range would look like? Really like the company I work for but if I can't negotiate higher I might need to look elsewhere.

Decent shop for what role?

Plenty of good firms pay less than that for a first year associate.

This is why I am confused

Trying to negotiate comp and I don't even want to be on the higher end.

Just want to be average. Would 150/ 30-40% be decent? Would it be too high?

Looking at the CEL comp range I see 140 30% is average

I am an associate in NYC - Base is $120k w/ 10-15% bonus. I could probably be making more at another shop but my hours/week rarely go above 50, so I think the work life balance is worth the trade off for me. Ill probs regret it later in life though when I try to buy a house or something.

Also, based on my limited searches on LinkedIn for jobs - aside from megafunds, most shops seem be quoting $100-$120k base on comp, not sure where the bonus lands.
