Another Comp Post
First I want to apologize for making another comp thread. I've searched through the search bar, looked at rhodes/CEL posts/ Comp listed in job listings, but I have no idea what the actual market would look like for an associate 3-4 years experience. It's all over the place. I've seen anywhere from$75k-$150k+ on base and who knows for bonus.
Can anyone give a good guidance on what a low, average and high comp range would look like? Really like the company I work for but if I can't negotiate higher I might need to look elsewhere.
Not sure if you came across this thread, but I'm trying to consolidate them all: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forum/real-estate/new-comp-database-goo…
Decent shop for what role?
Plenty of good firms pay less than that for a first year associate.
Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. This is 100% accurate. Can even expect 250k minimum for top REPE shops (megafunds etc).
What are the hours like at these shops?
This is why I am confused
Trying to negotiate comp and I don't even want to be on the higher end.
Just want to be average. Would 150/ 30-40% be decent? Would it be too high?
Looking at the CEL comp range I see 140 30% is average
$140k+30% sounds about right +/-
Can you share CEL comp report please?
As a data point, I am a first year associate at a multi owner operator in the SE with $125 base ~20-50% bonus.
The link to the cel associates compensation survey will be deleted by the mod team. Just type it in on google an it'll be on the first page. Thanks for providing your comp btw. How many years of experience?
Are you in the Carolinas? Seems very similar/identical to a firm I am currently at. Mind if I PM you?

I am an associate in NYC - Base is $120k w/ 10-15% bonus. I could probably be making more at another shop but my hours/week rarely go above 50, so I think the work life balance is worth the trade off for me. Ill probs regret it later in life though when I try to buy a house or something.
Also, based on my limited searches on LinkedIn for jobs - aside from megafunds, most shops seem be quoting $100-$120k base on comp, not sure where the bonus lands.
How bigs that shop? Think you’re getting fleeced
$10B AUM. You think i could make more without sacrificing wlb?
