Best way to get started in a new city?

Hello PriMates,

Back and posting again, in the next few months I will be moving to Indianapolis from Sydney. I've worked in Real Estate for the last 10 years in many different sectors and countries. However none of my experience seems to directly relate to anything I see listed on Linkedin Jobs postings.

Assuming I'm nothing but an ignorant foreigner with a chip on his shoulder and marketable paper experience, how should I best proceed in my new city/life?

Should I be sending Linkedin DM's to random people? Should I be going on Eventbrite and attending networking events with 15 people listed as attending? Should I just take whatever job I get offered and scheme from there?

I want my first step to be the right step, after that I'll roll with the punches.

Cheers.
