M7 MBA - Does it make sense for me?

*This post assumes I can get into my choice of M7 MBA, so please bear with that (slightly crazy) assumption.

I currently work on the acquisitions side at a top-10 real estate AUM firm. I enjoy the job, like my team and sectors, and have no immediate plans to leave. I’m learning a ton and feel like I’m on a pretty good trajectory.

Someone recently asked whether I had ever looked into a top MBA program, and honestly, it had never really crossed my mind to seriously consider one since I always assumed it was out of the question.

The question is probably a little vague since I don’t have a super clear long-term goal besides making decent money and finding some level of satisfaction in doing good work. I don’t really have any interest in IB, mostly because of the hours. I average about 60 hours/week right now, which flexes up and down depending on deals.

So, assuming I could get into somewhere like Wharton, what kind of doors do y’all think that would open up for me? Or would you say it’s probably not worth it?

Part of my hesitation is that my current role seems like the type of outcome a lot of people go to business school hoping to land, and obviously that I'd be taking on school debt for the first time ever and not working for two years.

One other factor is that I’m still in my late 20s, unmarried, and don’t have kids. If I were ever going to take two years to do something like this, it feels like now would probably be the easiest time to do it before I have actual responsibilities.

Curious how people here would think about the decision, particularly anyone who was already in the REPE space before going to an M7.
