Blackstone RE?

Recently been contacted by a recruiter for Blaclstone RE position in their investment team.

Honestly I’m a little confused why they even contacted me as I have neither RE nor IB experience. My current position is sales.

It probably has to do with the labor market in my country, which is very tight and more so for young bilingual professionals in the finance industry. So it could be just the recruiter has no idea and reaching out to every one they find on LinkedIn.

My current position is full wfh and I make ok money for my country. Any thoughts? Should I go to their interview?

Can I ask where you're located? If you want RE you can't have a better name on your CV. Its also about what your priorities are. If you're looking for a great work life balance then BX probably isn't the best place for that. If you're willing to grind and get paid above street for high performance BX is the best. Congratulations on the call, most people don't ever get the opportunity so best of luck.

It's Japan. My country has a decent sized market but has a shortage of bilingual professionals in the industry who can work for multinational companies.Recently due to the market condition of monetary tightening of other markets and Japan being one of the only countries with easy money, loads of real estate investment firms are coming in or expanding.KKR recently bought a real estate investment firm, and Blackstone is expanding their team rapidly from what I heard.

My current job is a solid 40 hour week job and the pay is no IB money, but we are getting paid similar to MBB consultants so in terms of wlb/pay, I think it’s super solid.

My estimate is that the salary will be up by 30-40% if I can move to BX or a similar firm, but not sure if it’s worth it to lose the WLB.

I was going to say Japan but yes the money flooding there is crazy! As someone who works at one of the firm's you mentioned, all I can say is that I wish I had wlb. Best of luck and I'll buy the first round the next time I'm over there. Cheers
