Canadian Seeking Advice

Long time lurker, first time poster. I am a junior in corporate development, but with a strong interest in real estate (for at least a decade). I am currently exploring the possibility of pursuing real estate in the long run.

Based on my interests, I am primarily interested in a role in REPE or acquisition/value-add. The firms I am aware of are Slate, Hazelview, and all the pension funds. Am I forgetting some great firms?

Alternatively, I am really hoping to get the best experience possible and I would be willing to move to the states for the right opportunity. Are there great real estate HH at the junior level?

Thank you very much for any input you can spare. Happy holidays!

There are a TON of shops you’re missing, from REPE shops to developers that also have heavy IPP investing activity.

Other big players specifically in more traditional REPE include Brookfield, KingSett Capital, Starlight Investments, Greybrook, Fengate, Forgestone, the list goes on.

You also have great operating companies that aren’t necessarily “REPE” but will offer similar work, developers, etc etc

There's a lot of jobs out there right now, the market is very hot. Just fyi the firms you mentioned normally go for experienced analyst hires. You'd have to craft a solid story for your interest in CRE. I'd second what CREnadian said that they're are many other firms which fit. You can find more by searching jobs on LinkedIn and then diving deeper on the firms and whether they interest you. Additionally, if you have any preferences on product type that really changes any suggestions.
