Career Outlook - FP&A at a Major REIT

I recently just landed my first job out of college at a major REIT (200b+ AUM). I interviewed for several different positions there, but the interview that I performed the best was for a Financial Analyst Role that focuses mainly on FP&A - (budgeting and monthly forecasting process for revenue and expenses / provide feedback on financial health of assets in the portfolio, and provide guidance and suggestions on how to improve NOI.)

When I started my job hunt, I really wanted to break right into REPE. When this came along, it seemed like a good opportunity with a good starting salary so I decided to take it. I know that they have an Investment role that focuses more on acquisitions/dispositions that I might be able to transition into later down the line (which I will definitely try to do if I can).

If that ends up not being a possibility though, I was wondering what other kinds of options I might have in terms of exit ops. Will FP&A experience help me break into a decently sized REPE shop later down the line? Is it unheard of to lateral into REIB without getting an MBA?

I've always had an idea of what my career outlook might be before I got a job, but now that I have this one, I feel pretty lost on how I should look at moving forward. A buddy of mine (in REIB) thinks that based off of reputation alone, I should stick here for the rest of my career. I would love to get other opinions though.

who cares? work hard and the opportunities will present themselves. I perform a similar function for a developer - i'm involved with developing head office reporting, development finance and capital project finance. I seem a ton of application for the skills i am acquiring; just do the work and you'll likely be involved with some cool projects that will open your eyes on possibilities.
