Case Interview Help from Current Analyst???

Getting a 4 hour take home case to complete for a debt investments team. I know the girl that left the position that I am interviewing for and found the other analyst still on the team. I already asked her for advice, but can I ask him? Or is that a no go?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, reaching out to the current analyst for advice can be a good move. Here are some steps to consider:

  1. Approach Respectfully: When reaching out, be respectful of their time. Acknowledge that you understand they are busy and that you appreciate any advice they can offer.

  2. Be Specific: Clearly state what you are looking for. For example, you could ask for tips on how to approach the case or any common pitfalls to avoid.

  3. Informational Interview: Frame your request as seeking advice rather than asking for help with the specific case. This can make the analyst more comfortable sharing insights.

  4. Follow Up: If they agree to help, make sure to follow up with a thank you note, regardless of the outcome of your interview.

Remember, networking and seeking advice are common practices in the industry. Just ensure your approach is professional and considerate.
