Colony NorthStar is only a few weeks old so it's hard to say how things will shake out since Colony and NorthStar seemed to me to have strikingly different cultures before the merger. I've had interactions with a number of mid level and senior NorthStar people the past couple years and always found them to be super smart and very professional. Can't speak to pay, sorry.

know a guy there... pay is below 'street' if you're comparing to NY shops, but LA is different so take it with a grain of salt. they're going through a big transition period due to the merger and my intel says there will be some cuts. that shouldn't discourage you because you'll be junior (im assuming), but i think it warrants the question of how the department you're interviewing for plays a role in the future of the company. the response will be positive regardless of the truth so you'll have to be able to read through the lines there.
