Compensation package

Hi guys,

I'm looking to join a REPE (in a different country) which i was over the summer. Fund manager has a lot of experience in REPE (over a decade) but the fund is quite young (10 people now). I just want to find out what you guys think of this compensation package:

Base: 25 - 30k
Bonus: Depends on fund performance
Additional: Fund manager allows analysts to invest a little in every property the fund purchases

Thanks!

Thanks guys for the replies. It is in Asia (think HK/SIN), and currency is in dollars equivalent. AUM is about $100-150 million

Those numbers are small for HK or Singapore. They are two pretty well established financial centers, especially HK, where they're used to more standard finance industry compensation. I thought you were going to say India or another developing country where compensation is lower in general.

However, AUM's pretty low so there's not a big management fee to pay expenses and although 10 years of experience may sound like a lot to someone in college, raising significant institutional money where the top guy has a decade of experience is a tough sell unless they're a rock star or their dad/uncle is a Chinese billionaire who's getting money out of the PRC.

I'm actually not sure how one could live on $25-20K in HK/SIN: those are two of the most expensive cities on earth and you can't just live in the suburbs and live for less. And unless you have some family money, I really don't know how you'd invest in deals if they're talking a true cash investment.
