Cornell Commercial Real Estate Certificate

Has anyone gone through this program, and if so what are your thoughts?

I've been in the industry for four years now (development for two) but thought I might be able to learn a thing or two from this. My employer would cover the entire cost. I'm not looking for resume padding or to update my LinkedIn headline, just want to stay sharp. Leaning towards Cornell certificate over MIT because it seems Cornell is more development focused.

Do it. If your employer pays for it then your opportunity cost is simply time and effort, which I think is almost always worth it.

Worst case scenario: You have something interesting on your resume and you brushed up on a few topics

Best case scenario: You have something that you found insightful and you can use to progress/ pivot your career

Another user here got it and broke into CRE with it (different career stage). I have a friend of mine who did UCLA Extension and broke into development using it.

Seems like the courses are only 2 weeks in length. I'd do some research to see if you will get enough out of the program. FWIW, I went to the BU real estate courses in person, but finished it up online. They were 6 weeks in length and came with a lot of material. Cornell may have more lay preftige tho.
