CRE Leasing Associate - How to Land Job

Since graduating in '14 from a top school, I bounced between different jobs in sales and client services. This year I got my real estate license and want to join a commercial brokerage team as an office leasing associate.

The very ultimate goal (10 yrs or so) is to form a team with my brothers who are analysts where we do MF acquisitions, but I know very little about the business right now. (I like office leasing because of higher complexity and my interests.) I'm reading and watching videos all day and starting to set up informational interviews. What I've gathered from reading is that I should do the following:

- read a ton and join orgs/use linkedin to build network, ask around for work with a team that will give me great exposure

- gain understanding of Argus and financial modeling

Ideally could intern for a REPE brokerage firm, but it's probably not the only thing I could do for great experience and I'm not sure of my chances as not a fresh grad. I'm also eyeing middle market firms in my area and am wondering if I should cold pitch myself as a leasing intern for the experience.

Thoughts? Thanks for helping out. Please bestow your wisdom.
