Easy to transition to asset management from debt capital markets?
I’m currently an analyst on a capital markets team (CBRE, JLL, Newmark, W&D etc.) and I was thinking of trying this for one more year and dipping to an asset management job for better hours. My current TC is roughly $100K working about 45-50 hours a week.
What could my TC be if I were to transition to asset management after a year? Is it an easy move and would it be worth it?
What’s your YOE?
Also, I’m at one of those firms in DCM and before I started, I got a few interviews (made it past first few rounds and a final round for one company) at a couple REPEs (top 25) for asset management.
Didn’t get offers but noting this do to the fact my resume was dog shit prior to my current role. Only had a year of experience at a shitty small bank (loan sizes less than $5MM) as a production analyst.
If they gave me multiple interviews then, I’m sure I’ll be fine next time around (if market doesn’t completely implode before then).
I wanna know too
45-50 hours a week is already "good hours".
LMAO, as someone who has been around the block, how much better than 45-50 hrs a week do you expect in any, literally in ANY position in CRE that offers a good WLB? That's the floor on average when you take into account the ebb and flow.
