EU REPE Professional Moving to Los Angeles

Hey all, first post here. I’m European, currently in London at a top-tier PE shop (BX/TPG/Apollo type) on the real estate team. ~6 yrs total experience (incl. local funds + developers), all in investments, all brand names somewhat recognizable. Worked my way up firm to firm from a non-target background → now Sr. Associate about to be promoted to VP/Principal. Track record: ~€300m equity deployed + one big successful exit. Degrees up to MSc (non-target), no MBA/CFA.

My wife’s American and we are considering moving to LA (green card is certain if i want it through a spouse visa). Questions for anyone in the LA REPE world:
• How tough is the job market there for locals?
• Is LA solid for long-term career progression?
• Anyone here made a similar move and has experience?

I can’t transfer internally (no LA office, don’t want to got to NYC). I have a tiny US network and some market exposure via global IC. Ideally aiming for VP lateral with comp in line, but understand might need to be flexible.

Any advice would be super helpful—cheers!
