Vinson was allegedly fired/laid off, but not sure why. could have been political or something else. the other departures were much more recent.
new CMBS ventures or groups like Nomura emerging from the ashes of decades ago tend to fully guarantee comp (bonus) for a few years, if the numbers made sense then that would explain some of the rainmakers leaving. just speculating of course.
Bloomberg published an article recently announcing that a group of Barclays hitters moved over to re-start Nomura's legendary real estate lending business. So that explains it. Hearing Barclays also routinely jammed people on comp.
The rumor mill is that they got stiffed on comp which is what led to the exodus. I believe that the platform is still alive but can't say it's doing well
Apparently the head of credit risk at Barclays is becoming the main relationship manager / originator, so it seems like the inmates have officially taken over the asylum

Wild if true considering Barclays is third highest in volume for conduit ytd
Banking group left, not sure about numbers but people have left that team including senior.
Their balance sheet / large loan team? Or their CMBS team? And do you know why?
Nope heard someone talking to someone internally there, very briefly but just said banking group and some other areas.
Names?
There was an article in the CMA last week
Can anyone share the article or some of the details from it
within CMBS - Larry Kravetz to Nomura, Frank Gilhool to Nomura. Dan Vinson went to BNP Paribas last year. Steven Caldwell to Wells Fargo.
That’s Head of CMBS, Head of Warehouse and Head of Large Loans based on the commercial observer article. Damn that’s wild.
Anyone have any idea why these guys left? People move around all the time but this many rainmakers is shocking

Saw the new team started at Nomura. What's going on with Barclays now?
Roadkill
Poached some quality people from DB but they’re crippled af. Lost all their rainmakers overnight.
Old news but adding that Chris Burke is at Wells now. Barclays seems super gutted rn.
Some article in the CMA said they were bringing in the Head of CMBS from DB to turn things around.

Per CMA, Co-Head of Commercial Mortgage Securitization Sammy Hamididdin at Barclays is leaving to go to ScotiaBank. Barclays is cleaned out.
How was Barclays recovered over the past year? Per the CMA Barclays are hiriing for NYC now. That DB hire was a big move.
They have two CMBS originations/underwriting AVP postings... in Mumbai.
Gotta love outsourcing, smfh.
Exodus was overblown
