Finding Job Opportunities

Looking for acquisitions analyst/associate roles in NYC metro area. Curious as to what else I can be doing to find roles other than LinkedIn/SelectLeaders/being hit up by recruiters. Anyone have luck using other resources or even cold messaging? There's so few roles openly out there that I feel like I'll never land something despite having a pretty solid background.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some strategies to enhance your job search for acquisitions analyst/associate roles in the NYC metro area:

  1. Job Alerts and Firm Career Websites:

    • Set up job alerts on LinkedIn under relevant keywords such as “investment analyst”.
    • Create accounts on investment management firms' career websites, submit your resume, and set up alerts for investment-related jobs.
  2. Cold Messaging:

    • Cold email hiring teams directly, attaching your resume and relevant work samples (e.g., stock write-ups). Avoid dealing with HR when possible.
  3. Networking:

    • Build relationships with equity salespeople, as they can be an excellent source of job leads.
    • Attend industry events, meet-ups, and conferences to expand your network.
  4. Recruiting Firms:

    • While some content suggests recruiting firms aren't always useful, it can still be beneficial to connect with reputable headhunters who specialize in your field.
  5. Direct Applications:

    • Apply directly on job boards of banks and investment firms.
    • Use platforms like Talent Oasis for additional opportunities.
  6. Proactive Approach:

    • Be open to relocations if possible, as this can increase your chances of finding suitable roles.
    • Follow up on job applications and HR phone interviews to show your interest and persistence.

By diversifying your job search strategies and leveraging multiple resources, you can increase your chances of landing a role in the competitive NYC market.

Do you know whats the best way besides just LinkedIn messaging? Any events in the NYC area I can go to meet some RE professionals?

I would personally lean toward email over LinkedIn
