Getting into Commercial Real Estate
I am currently an accounting major and will graduate next year. I am planning on getting a Masters of Finance which has multiple courses on various real estate topics. I was wondering what is the best way to get in with a RE firm?
Start by reading this forum.
Consume industry news and be persistent networking with an opinion on market trends.
Read this forum and stay up with industry news. Commercial Observer and The Real Deal are good for staying up to date.
Then try and narrow down what you’d like to do or would be most interesting. And network. Go to networking events. Join ULI and or NAIOP and meet people there. Bisnow hosts some cool events too.

Very much so, but you will get so much more out of it if you work/intern for a year beforehand. The people who go in blind often struggle, perhaps not in class, but in the intership/job market.
What is the best way to find an internship with a real estate firm? I've searched around multiple jobs sites and can't seem to find anything. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Any tips?
Totally agree. The class only teaches you some basic knowledge. You need to learn experience from work
I'm currently doing my Masters of Finance and interning at a REPE company in acquisitions. I did tons of reading on here and did an internship for a with a real estate company prior to starting classes, albeit a much smaller company. By the time I sat down with the CEO, COO, and their head of acquisitions, I had a decent understanding of the industry.
Everything the above people said is true, but I would put a huge emphasis on getting to know your school's career center and make sure you let them know your goals. My career coach in my program sent me the job listing the very next day after meeting with her concerning my resume.

I got my start by having a roommate who was fresh out of the military looking to buy a house to rent out. I got him to "hire" me as an unpaid intern and did some investment analysis and I put it on my resume. That got me into the debt side in the middle office, and a year of the debt side got me into the equity side front office
