GIS & Property Database

I've been lurking for a while but haven't posted much. I work in acquisitions for a large REIT, having been on the private side for the previous 5 years. We're building an acquisitions platform and I've been exploring database & GIS (geographic information system) software to be used for tracking potential acquisitions and property information. In the past, I built an access database and then linked each property to Microsoft MapPoint but MapPoint was incredibly antiquated. There are a ton of options out there but I was hoping to get some feedback on which ones people have had success with.

 

I have made a few maps with the Google custom maps to track comps, sub market statistics/info, and development pipelines. Google is pretty simple when importing KML & CSV data files which is why I like it. I have never tried batchgeo though. I will be looking that up.

Thanks for the thoughts - I'll check out batchgeo. One thing that I forgot to mention is that I'd like to be able to link each plotted property to an internal server & individual folders that contain all of the property level data - rent rolls, OMs, etc.

 

Sorry, I missed the part where this was for a company wide system upgrade. We keep batch geo files for on team management, not for reporting or anything official. Like I keep one for each deal I'm working on to track comps or plot tours for site visits. Or to track what is in my pipeline/what I've looked at/toured in a city.

The software that we are using to do what you want (with all of the internal linking and demographic data and stuff) is ESRI. Great company that will work with you to customize their software the way you want it. However, it is not cheap.
