Importance of Tier 1 Company on Resume?

How important is a big name on your resume for recruiting?

My situation is I’ll have three internships in RE before I graduate (1 brokerage, two buy side) but none of them are big names/large shops. I am aiming for a large owner/operator like Tishman, Hines, Related, etc, and I am afraid that the impact of not having the reputable, large company on my resume will make it much more difficult to land an analyst position at these places.

I have a pretty good GPA, strong leadership experience, certifications, but the missing piece is a shop that stands out. When I look on LinkedIn, a lot of the analysts at places like E/S, Starwood, etc had a large name brand company the summer before senior year which I feel like is weighted much more heavily than other things in the hiring process. I am specifically referring to people who did not have the summer role at the same place that the analyst role is in. Thoughts?
