Interested in a role in Development/Acquisitions (Baltimore/DC Area)

I've been in real estate in one form or another for 5 years. Looking to transition into a role in development and acquisitions. I recently went and got certified for Argus on my own. I would like to find a role with a company that has a solid track record and training program. I have been apart of family run companies and they have not been a great fit. Looking for any connections or help regarding what I should be looking for or whom I should reach out to in the Baltimore/DC/Northern VA markets. Thanks for your help! -Michael

I have been out of that market for a little while but from what I recall.

Development (Baltimore) - The Cordish Companies, Beatty Development, Greenberg Gibbons, Sagamore Development Company, ZAHLCO.

Development (DC) - JBG Smith, Penzance, Carr, Peterson Companies, Douglas Development, Lerner Enterprises, Federal Realty Trust, Bozzuto Group, BF Saul Companies

Investment Sales - Eastdil, HFF, CBRE, JLL. The usual suspects. I'm not sure which of these firms have a bigger presence in either of those markets.

Got it. Not to discourage you, but I think you need to tamper your expectations a bit with respect to a training program. I can't really think of any shops besides maybe JBG, Tishman Speyer, CBRE and some of the bigger banks that have a formal training program per se. However, here's a list of some of the bigger multi guys in town that have established capital partners and probably a more well-defined execution process/framework: Bozzuto, Kettler, PN Hoffman, Monument, LCOR, TCR, FRIT, Insight Partners.

Great list, tagging on to the resi side with some DC groups including, AVB, EQR, Greystar, Wood Partners, Camden, UDR, Foulger-Pratt, Forest City, Woodfield, Carmel Partners, Mill Creek.

For Baltimore, Harbor Group, Continental Realty are the only two I can think of that haven't been mentioned already.

Also of note, both CBRE and JLL's DMV multifamily teams are headquartered in Baltimore, but both have an office and brokers in DC as well (i.e. most of their analyst folks are in DC, but you could probably swing working out of Baltimore).
