I am just curious from reading through all of the threads if an Investment analyst could be interchangeable with a Capital Markets analyst within the big three brokerages (CBRE/JLL/C&W)?

Sort of depends. Different firms may consider IS a part of capital markets along with debt/equity placement & structuring. so an IS analyst could be 'CM', or a 'CM' analyst could be 'IS' or debt/equity.
