Job Reneg

Long story short. Like some people on here I was laid off due to market conditions. I was given a heads up by some hire-ups in the company so I was able to get a lifeboat. I landed at a job since January. When I was interviewing with my current company I was also interviewing with 2 other companies. One is with a bank and is a pivot to corporate finance that pays 40% above my previous base and 20% above my current base. The vacation time is ridiculous(5 weeks plus sick days and personal days). So I excepted without letting them know I was with my current firm(which I will quit when my background check clears).  It is a step down in title, but the comp is better. Here is the kicker, the job I wanted the most, higher title and 50-60% more base pay with a better name, and is with a bulge bracket commercial balance sheet lender.  I am in the final round and would feel terrible reneging twice.

I have too much experience and just want to get paid for a good work/life balance

If you plan on staying at the company for multiple years, then as long as they aren't upset with you leaving another company for them, why should you care? Companies lay off people all the time for one reason or another, you don't have to be loyal to a corporation when they wouldn't afford you the same loyalties. Do what's best for you.

So to close out the thread. Took the 2nd job, only had to reneg once.  I was not offered the third Job, got to the final round too.

First company was somewhat okay I resigned, sucks because boss was awesome.

My current role while not my "dream" job has given me a bit of a lateral in skill and I'm 4/5 months in and love the people, pay, higher ups, and exposure. This pays like 40k more guaranteed than the last job. I'm finally "comfortable".

Unless something drastic happens, will not be looking for a new job for at least 3 years. And even if then, would only be because I have a ceiling.
