KKR Real Estate Spring (6 months - April to Sept)

Hello fellow WSO enjoyers,

I am a freshman Econ student from a London university. Have some credentials - 100+ days of internships in IR + brokerage, have done a couple of courses, etc. I am applying for the KKR Real Estate programme, open for 2025 graduates and I’m unsure of whether I have sufficient credentials for that specific field. I did do a couple of RE diversity events from SEO London, but have never before applied for RE in general. Courses that I have done have been in PE and IB, (PE not RE specific). Have been a fan of KKR for quite some time, attended some of their events, read books about their founders, done research etc. Though, I fear that my credentials are currently insufficient, since I’ve never done anything in RE, don’t go to LSE/ICL/Oxbridge, and have questionable knowledge of this industry, though very keen to learn. Any advice for courses I can quickly take to boost my credentials, or things I can do to improve my chances? Thank you.

hey man, do you know any other opportunities for first year summer RE experience?

I am not going to lie, I am applying for this to have something on my cv potentially with a good name. A diversity undergrad organisation which I am a part of recently ran an exploratory programme for RE PE, but I didn't find it to be as exciting as infrastructure and logistics PE. Still, any experience is better than none, and maybe I am wrong about RE PE.

Just to give you some solid advice mate, I believe you should firstly find out what career you want and then decide accordingly what internship you will take. Trying to get a KKR RE internship just for some first experience firstly does not make sense if ur not interested in RE and secondly will not work, they hire cambridge/oxford students with solid IB/REPE experience which is not an easy profile to obtain. Dont focus on the brand name but on what day to day job interests you and steer your career accordingly!
