I can't necessarily comment on your credentials. I can say, I am at NYU and will be finishing my M.S. in May. Have secured a great job beginning this summer. I too, took the summer off before Senior year of undergrad and took the LSAT. I ended up working for a short period of time (in real estate) as a gap year and ended up not going to law school.

Can't comment on NYU vs MBA but...

I had one person question me on what I did during the summer I did not intern and studied instead. Everyone is allowed to change their mind, especially at such a young age. Put the real estate experience on your resume and you will be able to tell your story. No need to bring up the LSAT unless someone specifically asks what you did that summer. NYU has been great and you can get a great job after as long as you network. It has been tough for many full time students to secure something for after graduation, but that doesn't mean they won't find anything in the Spring. The hiring environment is difficult as many shops run extremely lean. Additionally, to use on campus recruiting, you need to go up against all of the undergrads and many OCR postings do not allow masters students to apply. You need to find a side door to get your resume in the pile or consistently ask career services to reach out to the company to see if they will let master's students apply. I would shoot to try and get a job before enrolling in NYU. With that said, if you go to NYU, start in the fall, not the spring or summer, and network network network, and then network some more. You will find a great job, but you must put the legwork in.

Thanks so much for your advice! Really appreciate it. From what I have gathered online (and from what you are saying), the career services center at Schack is quite weak, correct? And if you don't mind me asking, what was your undergraduate major?

There is no career services center solely for Schack. Schack uses the undergraduate career center. The center itself is good and everyone is helpful, NYU specific on campus recruiting just doesn't usually target master's students. If you plan to do the program, you just need to have a plan on how to get your job. And a word of advice, make sure you target a May graduation so that you can begin in the analyst programs of the larger institutions (if that is what your goal is).

I was an econ major.
